Led by TOPOS \u2013 Digital Aquitaine, this first congress on ITS and climate takes part of the ITS4Climate initiative launched during the 21st Conference of the Parties in 2015.<\/p>\n

COP 21 was a key milestone in the history of global climate change policy. An ambitious goal was agreed \u2013\u00a0to hold the increase of global average temperature below 2\u00b0C above pre-industrial levels<\/strong>, and pursue efforts to limit the increase to 1,5\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

However, three years later, the key message coming from COP 24 (December 2018, Katowice) was that\u00a0global emissions have now increased to their highest level ever<\/strong>\u00a0(2.7% global increase in 2018).<\/p>\n

Urgent actions are required globally \u2013 in the next 12 years \u2013 in order to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n

Smart mobility solutions and services can deliver major impacts towards reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transport & mobility sector. However, until now ITS deployment remains well below levels needed to achieve European and global targets.<\/p>\n

CATIE presented PIXEL as a potential solution to target and reduce environmental impacts of ports. We identified Alan\u00a0Lewis from the Smart Freight Centre (https:\/\/www.smartfreightcentre.org\/en\/<\/a>) who gave a speak about how to model the supply chain emissions, closely linked with some tasks in PIXEL (WP5-PEI).<\/p>\n
